How would just cause terminations work with term limits?

Member staff fully recognize that their jobs are determined by term limits and there has been no interest in maintaining the same staff through Member transitions and term limits.

What Member staff would likely be fighting for is more basic: “just cause termination” while the Member is in office. Not: you come in at 10 AM 1 day & are served termination papers (happened to many people on Member side.)

For Central Staff, the institutional side of the council, protections between speaker transitions are far more important. In the past, there has been mass firings of staff and eliminations of entire divisions during Speaker transitions. Just Cause termination protections could help protect people’s jobs during transitions.
